Joyce
Brown RIP Not part of Cynthia's trip but below is a record of the funeral of
long time BMW Club member, Joyce. Photo quality isn't good but it's all I
have. |

Replacement engine arrives - Three
days via Miami and Guatemala. Must be some sort of record.
Anyway, received
with MUCH thanks (pix attached). And as it seems such a shame to waste
John's Amazing Crate, it's coming back (by slow boat, through the Canal)
with the "old" engine. I'll let you know shipping details as and when. It'll
take a couple of months, I think.
I've swapped the
sump plate, oil pickup/screen filter, oil pump and pressure switch (as
they're new), flywheel, dipstick (as mine already has the appropriate bend
for the tank). I'll be swapping the conrods as well, I think. I now have a
complete set of replacement bearings - standard, +0.25mm and +0.50mm. It
also means I know the small ends will be OK.
The "old" engine
has a stripped stud but otherwise is, as far as I know, sound apart from the
pressure problem which is probably, as Phil surmises, the rear main rotating
in its housing and blocking the oilway. It'll be interesting to find out,
and also what, if any, damage was done considering I've done nearly 10,000
miles with it in this state. |
